CALL FOR PROJECTS: COLUMBUS CIRCLE PROJECT
"Movers & Shakers is working on a multifaceted plan to inform the public of the atrocities that Columbus committed. We are in the process of organizing an interactive art exhibit that we are looking to feature in galleries, museums and public spaces throughout the 5 boroughs. The exhibits will showcase paintings, prints, photos, projected videos, 360 videos, virtual reality experiences, augmented reality experiences and a plethora of interactive art. The focus of the exhibits will be on human rights and genocide."
"Movers & Shakers executes direct action and advocacy campaigns for marginalized communities using virtual reality, augmented reality and the creative arts.
Our current focus is the removal of all things Columbus from New York City streets, monuments, and public institutions. To that end, we have arranged a team of illustrators, animators, sound designers, poets, rappers, and professors to create an augmented reality book on the true story of Columbus. We have an in-house app that activates the animations. As the animations loop, poetry based on academically verifiable evidence plays in the background. Our goal is to create public installations and get the book into schools.
Here are two links that break down our approach to activism and shows examples of work from the Augmented Reality book.
Our goal is to get a referendum on the 2018 election ballot so that New York City voters can decide the fate of the Columbus statues.
In order to get a referendum, we need to get either 250,000 signatures or a city council bill to be passed. Although both are tough, the city council vote is doable as they would not be taking a political stance (we just want to leave the choice to the people). Getting the signatures done would be through campaign-style organizing.
However, we want to campaign using 360 video, VR animations, and augmented reality art. I am reaching out to see if anyone in your agency would be interested in participating in the project.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Glenn Cantave, Founder, CEO Movers & Shakers"
